Eat Pray Love...and eat some more

I can’t even remember how we started to get crazy over the movie Eat Pray Love. My best friend Mia and I have waited at least 2 months before the film hit the Philippines.

It was well worth the wait. The movie ended with us envying Julia Roberts, or more appropriately mentioned, Liz Gilbert. The aftermath of that movie date had us eating ice cream at DQ. As if getting the idea out of nowhere, I blurted out that if ever we reach our 40’s still single, we will pull a “Liz Gilbert”. Meaning, we will visit three countries just to eat, pray and love…to eat some more.  Well, if one of us gets lucky to find a man in our forties, then that’s great!

But if ever we get luckier, whoever gets married last between us will receive a trip to Bali honeymoon gift from the other. Insane deals make a great friendship, believe me. Haha!

I'm lost for words.

This definitely makes it to the list of my favorite movies of all time. Super!

Carey On!

There's this one film that I am really looking forward to watch. Since I just saw the trailer of the film and I don't want to pretend that I know a lot about it, I searched a synopsis of the movie.

Jenny ( Carey Mulligan) a very bright girl on the cusp of her 17th birthday, finds herself in a whirlwind romance with the much older David ( Peter Sarsgaard). Prior to meeting him, Jenny was working hard at secondary school to ensure getting to Oxford University. When she sees the lifestyle David can provide, one she never imagined could be hers, she's hooked and thoughts of Oxford are forgotten. Then, when things are looking pretty good for Jenny with the dashing ( yet a little too smooth) David, the truth hits her like a ton of bricks. Jenny goes from being a bright eyed school girl and a sophisticated young lady, all the way back to questioning if she really knows who she is at all.

Carey Mulligan is as cute as a button. Her portrayal in the movie is very convincing and her naivety and ignorance is full of sincerity. I was glad that finally, she won a Best Actress award for this film.


She just looks adorable and may I say, that she's just the girlfriend of Transformers cutie Shia LaBeouf.

JOLOGS ang TAGALOG...

Bihira lang talaga ako manood ng Tagalog na mga pelikula. Madalas, kapag manonood ako sa sinehan, foreign films ang pinipilahan ko. Nakakanood naman ako ng Filipino movies, pero kapag pinapalabas na lang din sa TV, at kung minsan, kapag wala na lang talagang ibang mapanood.

Nasa ganun akong kalagayan nang nailipat ko yung channel isang araw sa STUDIO 23. Ang palabas ay JOLOGS.

Hindi ito yung unang beses na napanood ko ito. Naalala ko bigla na maganda ang mensahe ng movie na ito. Tungkol ito sa iba’t-ibang uri ng klasipikasyon ng tao sa salitang JOLOGS. Ang Jologs o baduy para sa akin ay isa lamang “state of mind”. Tayo lang ang nakakakita niyan. Sabi nga ni Assunta sa pelikula, masama man daw siyang tao sa paningin ng iba, hindi naman ibig sabihin noon ay masama na nga siyang tao. Ang jologs sa paningin mo ay hindi jologs sa palagay niya. Ang totoo, lahat tayo may pagka-jologs. Yung iba, naitatago lang nila o kaya pinipilit i-deny.

Bottomline, wala namang masama kung manonood ka ng Tagalog movies. Meron naman kasing mga pelikulang Filipino na may sense at less commercialized. Jologs man sa iba, mas jologs pa rin ang Filipinong hindi marunong magpahayag ng paghanga sa pelikulang Tagalog.

Ako, siguro mapili lang din ako sa mga Tagalog films na gusto kong mapanood. JOLOGS ako. Pero di lang dahil sa panonood ko ng Tagalog films. Jologs ako dahil jologs ang kilos ko at ang isip ko.
